Tires: tire pressure, honda crv 2002, inflation pressure

Question
QUESTION: Similar to past posts I require the load table info, that can help me set my oversize tires at optimal pressure for fuel economy without sacrificing safety.

Vehicle: Honda CRV 2002.
GVWR 1960kg, GAWR 980F, 1020R
Tire: P205/70R15,  15x6JJ recommend 26Psi.

The Dealership installed Firestone Destination A/T tires
P235/75R15 105S M+S

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve.

ANSWER: Steve,

Normally a larger tire would result in a lower inflation pressure.

But I do not recommend anyone operate a tire on the street with less than 26 psi.  The inflation pressure also holds the tire onto the rim especially in cornering manuevers and pressures lower than 26 psi may result in the tire becoming unseated from the rim.

QUESTION: Could I overinflate to better gas mileage?, and still be safe?  I was considering 28 or 29 psi.  Thanks very much for your timely response.

Answer
Steve,

Because the tire is 3 sizes larger than stock, I'm having trouble deciding how far is going too far.  I'm hesitant to recommend more than 26 psi, but I don't have enough information to say this would be bad.  Clearly, this is directionally towards too much.

I guess that's about as much as I can say.
