Tires: Correct Pressure Using Oversize Tires, cooper discoverer radial lt, isuzu rodeo

Question
I have a 1992 Isuzu Rodeo that I purchased recently, and it has oversize tires (Cooper Discoverer Radial LT 32x1150R15LT). The door placard specs show 26psi for a P225/75R15. I've tried 26psi, but the ride seems too soft. When I had a rotation performed recently at a tire chain, they put in 35psi, which rode too hard. I lowered the pressure to 32psi, and that seems good to me, but how do I calculate the CORRECT pressure? Thanks!

Answer
David,

The correct way to do this is to match the load carrying capacity of the original tires - which requires the use of load tables - and they are allowed to be published on the web.

But I have them and here's the result!

26 psi.

Mmmm. I guess that means you prefer handling over ride.  A few extra psi won't hurt - but no more than 5 psi.

I notice that the stock rim width is 6" and the minimum allwable rim width for a 32X11.50R15LT is 8".  So hopefully the rims are that wide.
