Tires: Getting new tyres., new wheels, speed rating

Question
Hey Barry.
Just a quick question. I currently have 4 tyres -
185 55 R14 H

however have been given 4 new wheels, of which i need two new tyres for. The tyres on the wheels i have now been given are
195 50 15 V

I was wandering if it is ok to put these tyres on my fiesta, even though they are V rated, and my current tyres are only H rated. I know that my car can't get anywhere near the maximum speed of either speed rating, but just wandering what an expert's view would be.

Basically wanting to know if you wold advise buy 4 H rated tyres, on 2 V rated ones.

Thank you.

Dan Martin.

Answer
Dan,

You may think this is a quick question, but it isn't.

First, I don't know if there is enough room under the fenders for that size tire.  The fenderwells have to be measured to be sure.  The folks that do those sorts of measurements don't publish the data because they think it gives them a competitive advantage.

But as far as the speed rating goes - more is always better.  That means the tire is more capable.

Anmd I would always advise having the same speed rating all around.
