Tires: BMW X5 4.4 Tires, bmw x5, model bmw

Question
I have a 2000 Model BMW X5 SUV with 30,000 miles on it.  I took it in to get one tire replaced when I noticed that the dates on the tires were all different.  The two oldest tires were splitting apart on the insides.  Since the wheels on the front and the back are different widths, I was told by the Good Year folks that I had to buy two different sizes.  One for the front and one for the back.  The wheel width is 1/2 inch wider on the back.  One is 11" wide and other is 11 1/2" wide.  Will the smaller of the two tires fit both rims so I i can rotate directionally?

Answer
Jason,

This model uses different tire sizes front to rear - and that means you can not rotate the tires front to back.

But just to be sure, check the vehicle placard.  Vehicle placards will list the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  Placards are usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box.
