Tires: 2000 Chevrolet Blazer, chevrolet blazer, proper inflation

Question
I bought a new Chevrolet Blazer (4 door, V-6) new in February 2000.  It is primarily my wife's car and it driven very little .  Mostly locally although we have made a couple of trips from Virginia Beach to NJ and NY.  Question: The tires have been rotated regularly and balanced and front end aligned when needed. proper inflation always maintained.  The physical appearance of the tires is excellent.  The car only has about 26K miles on it.  So the tires have been on the automobile over 7 years.  Should tires be replaced after a certain "age" or should it be based solely on condition (tread depth, pattern, even wear)?

Answer
David,

Tires do not last forever - even if unused.

The current thinking is that tires in hot climates - CA, AZ, NM, TX, NV, and FL - should be replaced at 6 years and tires in cold climates - ND, MI, ME, NH, and MO - should be replaced at 10 years.

Where you are seems to be at the 8 year point - so it is time to start shopping as the tires are older than the vehicle.
