Tires: Tire size variations, stock tire size, diameter tire

Question
Stock tire size 265/70/16 on a 01 Yukon with 90m miles.
Would it hurt anything to change to 265/75/16 ?
Already understand the speedo issue, how about antiskid and pulling torque would that make a diff with that small a change in size? My tire dealer has both, the 75's look better. How far can i deviate with stock equipment and stay safe in winter etc. Thanks

Answer
Johnny,

Thi is a tough question to answer.

The larger diameter tire would increase the force being applied at the footprint, but it also reduces the rpm at any given speed - and that reduces the torque being applied.

But there is the issue of clearance in  the fenderwell - which I can not address because it has to be measured - and frankly, it is a monumental task for an individual to measure every vehicle in production.

So while I can not answer your entire question I think you are on fairly safe ground going up a single size.
