Tires: A/T vs. Snow/Ice tires, two different worlds, snow tires

Question
I have a 2wd S10 with standard wheel.  (p205/75/15)  i know i need new tires, but my question for this upcoming winter is should i get winter tires to A/T tires?  I have read different reviews and would like your opinion.  Costs look about the same, so that is not an issue.  I need safe tires because I drive nearly 1000mi/wk.

Also, is there flexibility is size at all?  For winter should i add width?  Right now I have passenger tigerpaws that are quite awful in even rain.  These tires would be strictly for winter as I have others for the rest of the year.

Thank you so much for your opinion!!
Andrew

Answer
Hi Andrew,

It really depends on where you live.
But my guess is you live in an area that receives a lot of snow, since you are even thinking about snow tires.

Well there is no comparing A/T tires to snow tires.  They are two different worlds.

A/T is made for off road.

Snow tires are made for snow.

Here is a link for snow / ice tires.  ( Highly recommend one of these )

Stay with the OEM tire size.

It is your choice, do you want a A/T tire that is made for mud and sand, which will work in snow or a tire for snow and ice, and even black ice if you get one that works on that? ( see link )
