Tires: reducing tire size, orginal tire size, ford bronco

Question
I am considering purchasing a 1996 ford bronco which currently has 37" tires on 15 " wheels... what size can I go down to ? My concern is ride, max speed and gas mileage ? thank you

Answer
Jim,

Find the vehicle placard and see what came on the vehicle from the factory.  If my memory is correct, the placard on a Bronco is on the driver's doorpost.

My book says:  P235/75R15 Extra Load inflated to 35 psi front / 41 psi rear  OR P265/75R15 inflated to 35 psi front and rear.

The orginal tire size will be much better for fuel economy, but compared to the tires you have on there now will probably ride worse.
