Tires: Goodyear Assurance Tires- flats, goodyear assurance tires, tire tread

Question
In the past 3 months I have had 3 blowouts with Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred tires. The first they told me they could find nothing wrong, but the bill said they put in a plug. The second time, different tire, they said it was the valve stem. The third, third tire, happened yesterday and I have not had it checked yet. I have about 35,000 miles on them- 80,000 mile tire. Tread is good. All flats at high speed. Any ideas? The tire are good and the Goodyear place checked them last week, for Goodyear, and they said they were all fine!!
Thanks

Answer
Dru,

Without examining each of the 3 tires, I can not really tell you what is going on.

But if they have identified twice before outside reasons for the flats, that doesn't change the probability that this could have an outside cause as well.

You should be aware that 15% of the tires develop a flat in their lifetime.  That means there is a 60% probability that the set you have on your car will have a flat.  It also means there is a 36% probability that you will have 2 flats.  It also means there is 22% probability that you will experience 3 flats.

Now if you haven't had this type of problem before - well, even though I disagree with what I am about to say, you could look at this as just 'catching up with the statistics.'
