Tires: Tire Grand Cherokee 1994, cherokee laredo, inflation pressure

Question
On my Cherokee Laredo (Quadra track) the standard tire size was 235/75/15 because  I had the "off the road options".

Would it be a problem if I replace them by 225/75/15. I know that the car will be a bit lower but do you see any other problems. I think the standard Laredo had 225 size of tire but not sure that I can put this new size on the Laredo (off road options).

Answer
Paul,

It's never a good idea to use a smaller tire than came originally.

However, I do show that some versions of your vehicle came with the smaller tire, so:

1)  You have to be aware that your speedometer will be reading 2% lower

2)  You will lose 600 # of load carrying capacity, so to compensate, I would suggest you use 35 psi inflation pressure - and even that doesn't quite make up the difference.  Be very careful with the load you are carrying.
