Tires: mazda truck tires, mazda b2000, mazda truck

Question
I want to get my husband new tires for his 1983 Mazda b2000 truck for fathers day but all i know is that they are 14's i don't know what the other numbers are. what size tire would i need?

Answer
Kaleigh,

First you should find the vehicle placard.  It lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  It is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box.

Then look at the tires.  The size will have the form XXX/YYR14, maybe with a P in front of it.

Hopefully, the two sizes will be the same.  If not then we need to make sure that check the rim size.

And now it's starting to get complicated.

But since you have to get tires mounted somewhere, why not take the truck over to someone to look at it.

BTW, as a car guy, I'm a little fussy about my cars, so be careful.  This may be an area where your husband has ideas about what he wants.
