Tires: larger tires, stock rims, factory tires

Question
I own a2004 chevy truck with lt245/75r16 factory tires.what are the negatives to putting lt295/75r16 on to fill out the wheel wells a little for a better stance.would this be a no no?

Answer
Norm,

Unfortunately, the stock rims on your truck will not accomodate a  larger tire.  So you will have to buy rims if you want to use larger tires.

Aside from the speedometer being off about 9% (less than 3% is recommended), the increased ride height is going to make the vehicle a bit more unstable and prone to rollover.  It will also make the vehicle lean and sway a bit more.

Hope this helps.
