Tires: Tire leaking air?, michelin energy mxv4, volvo s80

Question
Car: 2000 Volvo S80 (FWD)
Tires: Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus

Problem: My right front tire cannot maintain proper pressure. A few days ago I inflated it to about 31psi, now it's at 25psi, which means it's losing 1-2 psi each day. This causes the car to pull right. I couldn't find a visible damage on the tire.

Before this problem occurred, I could feel my steering wheel vibrate at speeds over 60mph. There might be a balance problem, but is it possible that this is related to the pressure problem in any way?

What might cause a tire to leak air at such a rate(1-2psi/day)?

Thank you.

Answer
Mehmet,

The first step is to find out why it is leaking air.  Possible causes include a puncture (even barely visible punctures can leak quite rapidly), leaking between the tire and the rim, and air could be leaking through the rim itself.  It is also possble that you have a separation.

Is the vibration related to the leak?  Perhaps.  A separated tire could both vibrate and leak.  So finding the source of the leak is the first step.

Do this immediately, since separations do not take long to become dangerous.
