Tires: Tire pressure, mcpherson struts, toyota vios

Question
Hi!

I am from sunny Singapore, a tropical island in South East Asia.
I drive a Toyota Vios, a Asian only car with a 1NZ-FE engine. Its front wheel
drive, McPherson struts up front and torsion beams at the back for
suspension.

I run on Goodyear Eagle F1s 195/50/15 (they sell Thailand made Eagle F1s in
15 inch). What pressure in PSi should I use for front and rear tires? I need
handling on the street, so I dont care about comfort; I want to reduce
understeer. At the same time, I dont want to over/under inflate as I run them
for street and daily use.

The temperature in my country averages 32 to 36 degrees Celsius. My car's
unladen weight is 980kg. I am running on 41psi for front and 38 psi for the
back

Many thanks!

Answer
Joseph,

I am not familiar with what happens in other countries, but in the US there is a placard that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.

If you are using that size then the pressure listed is appropriate.  Personally, I recommend 3 to 5 psi more than what is listed on the placard, but I don't know if this is appropriate for your situation.

However, if you are using a different size than what is listed on the placard, then you can post back with what is listed on placard and I'll do the calculation for you.
