Tires: Tires for 98 Dakota Sport, season stock, winter tires

Question
I am looking to replace winter tires on my dakota with an all-season. Stock options are 215 75 R15 or 235 75 R15. Previous owner left a spare rim with a 235 70 R15. What are the advantages/disadvantages of going to the wider tire and would it raise the height of the vehicle much? With the 215's I only have 1.5 inches clearance for my garage door.

Answer
Jan,

I have a book that lists all 3 sizes that you mentioned as options.  But since the spare is a P235/70R15, I would suggest you go there.  The only downsize is that the vehicle will sit about 1/4" taller, and the narrower tires will be a bit better in the snow.
