Tires: Nissan Quest tire size change, speed capability, nissan quest

I have a 2004 Nissan Quest that calls for a 225-65R-16 H rated tire.  the choices for this tire are extremely limited to say the least.  The Original tire barely lasted 30k miles.  Is it unsafe to drop to a 215-65-16 T rated tire?

This is not a good direction to go.  

First, you would be going down in load carrying capacity, and second, you would be going down in speed capability.  This is a double hit in capability and these types of changes increase the probability of a tire failure.

I'd recommend you look at 215/70R16's, which is at least the same load carrying capacity.  But as a word of caution, if you exceed 75 mph, you ought to stay with the H speed rating.
