Tires: LT tire capacities, ford f350, tongue weight

Question
Got a Ford F350 (SRW) that I have a slide in camper (wet weight 2,100#) then I tow horses behind (approx 7,000#).  I am looking at upgrading our camper with a new weight pushing 3,400#.  With the stock 265-75-16 tires (10 ply), I am wondering if I am pushing the limits and need to move up to a higher capacity tire: with the only options I see is 275-70-17 (10 ply) or the high dollar 19.5's.  I also run air bags on the axles to help with the sway and sagging.  Appreciate any advice.

Answer
Tom,

It does sounds like you are over the limit, but the limit is determined by the vehicle manufacturer so I think you need to contact them.  What you want to ask is:  "What are the towing limits for this vehicle and what is the payload capacity?"  You'll probabky need to have the VIN available and be able to tell them the weights involved.  The payload is the weight of what is in the bed and the tongue weight of the trailer and if I did the math correctly is 4450 #.  Whew, this doesn't even sound close!!!  I'm thinking you need a bigger truck, like an F450 or 550!
