Tires: Extra Load Tyres, dunlop sport 9000, inflation pressure

Question
Thanks for the quick response!

Ok.. I've checked the handbook and it says tyre pressures for up to 3 persons = Front 38psi, Rear 35psi.

That's obviously a bit higher than 35psi for the fronts.  Will it be ok if i just reduce the front tyre pressure to 35psi?

-----Question-----
My car come factory fitted with 225/40 Dunlop Sport SP01 Extra Load Tyres.  They have all been changed to 225/40 Dunlop Sport 9000 tyres (not extra load).  Will this cause any issues or problems?
-----Answer-----
Kevin,

Perhaps!

Standard Load tires have a certain amount of load carrying capacity and the maximum load carrying capacity occurs at about 35 psi.

Extra Load tires have more capacity but they acheive this by using more inflation pressure.  They have the same load carrying capacity as Standard Load tires have at 35 psi, and have more load carrying capacity as the pressure increases - up to a maximum of 41 psi.

So the question is:  What does the vehicle manufacturer say the inflation pressure is supposed to be?  This should be listed on a sticker commonly called the placard.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box.

If the placard calls for 35 psi or lower, then this is not a problem.  But if the placard calls for more than 35 psi, then it is a problem and you need to fix it immediately.  Overloaded tire failure can sometimes have tragic results.

Answer
Kevin,

What this means is that for your car to have enough load carrying capacity you have to use an Extra Load tire at 38 psi - a Standard Load tire will never have enough capacity.  The Standard Load tires need to be replaced with Extra Load tires as soon as possible.
