Tires: staggered tire size on 4x4, chevy silverado ss, tire diameters

I have a Chevy silverado SS model it is all wheel drive I am lowering it and wondered if I could staggers the tire size? for instance 255x50x20 in the front and 295x50x20 as long as the tire height is the same 50 will this work?

4X4's are sensitive to tire diameter, so you have to match that.

I don't see a problem with staggering tires, but the overall tire diameters have to really, really close.  If you don't, you risk damaging the drivetrain.

But does it really make sense to put different tire sizes on a 4X4?  I thought the whole idea behind a 4X4 is to be able have pulling power and staggered tires don't give me the sense that it would look like there is pulling power.
