Tires: Front Tire wear, toyota matrix, penny coin

Question
On my Toyota Matrix the left front wheel has worn off much more than the right side one. Why is this happening. On the worn out tire you can see its below Lincoln's hairline on an inverted penny coin, its very much below the inverted hairline. The roght tire looks so new that hairline is hidden by the tread. Is there something wrong with the car as both should wear out at least equally ?

Answer
The front tires of a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) wear the tires 2 1/2 times faster than the rears.  That's why it is important to rotate your tires regularly - every 5,000 to 8,000 miles.  Rotation also prevents the appearance of irregular wear, which this vehicle seems to be prone to.
