Tires: Tire Noise???????????????, directional tires, series tires

Question
I have BMW 525  year 2001 with 80000 miles, at about 75000 with cooper 50 series tires 17 wheels it started howling? or growning, tire noise or a bearing?
The tires are coopers directional tires with about 18000 miles at the time of the noise.
When you start to roll at about 5 mph the noise  gets quite loud and then decreases a little but gets louder after 30 mph and by I am going 65mph is not as loud but still there.  The noise comes from all around, suround sound?
The bearing in the front felt real tight and rotating by hand didn't give any noise or virbation or slight growning?
I did not run the rear wheels so I question them?
any ideas?
thanks

Answer
Harvey,

Trying to diagnose a noise of the internet is almost impossible.  The noise itself tells a lot about where it is coming from.

It could be a bearing and it could be the tires, but it could be something else.  I wonder if the fact that the volume changes as speed increases is trying to tell you the problem isn't related to the tire or the bearing.

I suggest you have someone look at it (listen to it?)
