Question -
I am the shop foreman for exhaustpro in lexington ky. I had a 2006 kia sportage in the shop for alignment but it had 2 tires on the rear with nitrogen from factory but the front had new tires with regular air...my queston is can you add air to a tire that is low or has a flat repair with nitrogen in it without haveing or causing a problem to the tire or the installer also does changing the tires and putting plain old air back in them cause any problems. is there any danger to mechanics or service personal when doing tires with nitrogen in them. does it change anything as far as performance to the vehicle if changed.
I hope you can give me the awnsers i need because i can"t find any info on the subject.

         thank you

Gene,

First, I am not aware that any vehicle manufacturer is using nitrogen for factory fill.  If this is true, Kia has not informed anyone and I am sure I would know about it if they announced it.

But to your question,  air is 78% nitrogen, so of course you can add air and handle any tire inflated with nitrogen as though it were fill with air.

you need to check into it because kia is useing it in some of their cars>>> also florida is going to start putting it in a lot of their cars.  go to nitrogen filled tires .com and you will find a lot of info on nitrogen filled tires .that is where i found the info i needed  thanks.

Answer
Gene,

I couldn't find the web site you mentioned nor anything that looked close.  Did you get the name right?

BTW, I would be very careful accepting claims by folks who sell nitrogen equipment.  They, of course, want you to think the whole world is changing over and you ought to jump on.
