Tires: RV Trailer Tires, 5th wheel trailer, carlisle tires

Question
I recently experienced a blow out on my 5th wheel RV with a Carlisle load range D radial on my 27.5' 5th wheel trailer.  The tread was good and the tire was at recommended inflation.  The trailer was not overloaded.  The Carlisle tire is the original trailer manufacture's tire.  I was told by the RV dealer that they have had many problems with the Carlisle tires.
Should I go up to a Carlisle load range E or would a different tire manufacturer be better?

Answer
Brad,

Tires on trailers seem to be problematic.  In my opinion, the problem is that the tires are too small for the vehicle.  In engineer's speak - not enough reserve capacity.

To increase the reserve capacity, you need to either use more inflation pressure (meaning you'll need to use a higher load range) or use a larger size with the same inflation pressure.

Hope this helps.
