Tires: Tire comparison, goodyear assurance tripletred, bridgestone tire

Question
I have a 1995 Lexus ES 300.
Please give me your opinion on what the better tire would be.  BF Goodrich Traction T/A or Goodyear Assurance TripleTred.

The BF Goodrich has a Higher Speed Rating (H), Traction grade (AA)and temperature grade (A).

The Goodyear has a higher Treadware grade (740)

Answer
Hiya Mike!

In my opinion the Goodyear is the better tire given the choices you have made. Everyone I have talked to and everything I've read has brought me to this, the Goodyear is a good handling dry or wet and has a smooth comfortable ride. The BFG's seem to wear a little quicker and not has good traction or ride quality but still a decent tire. As far as the Goodyear Assurance, they have not been out long enough to tell how long they last, so I can't answer that honestly. The Goodyear probably will cost you a little more, but I would put those on my car versus the BFG's. You can also check this website >>>>>> TIRERACK.COM  <<<<<<<< and on their site you can "check by brand" and actually read customer reviews of each tire and I believe both of those tires are listed. As far as the treadwear rating, that is totally useless when comparing brand to brand. Because no two brands are rated the same. You can take a  Bridgestone tire that has a 50,000 mile warranty and it will be rated lets say...400 and then take a Firestone tire rated 50,000 miles and its rated 525(if though its the same company)the government fell short (imagine that!) and didn't give a standard way for everyone to rate their tires the same. So don't use that unless you are comparing it to another Goodyear tire. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me again!

Good Luck!
Andrew ;)
