I have a 1999 chevy express van 2500 that was converted over to a 4x4. On the front the tires are wearing on the inside edge particulary on the right side. I have 25000 miles and I had to change them they were that bad. The mechanic said there wasn't any adjustment on that only the toe in and that was just about right on. Any Idea on how to keep my new tires from wearing like this?

Bob,

There are 2 possibilities:

Too much camber or too much akerman (toe change in turning).

Since this is a custom job, your going to have to figure out which one it is and how to correct it.

Hope this helps.

Answer
Bob,

Yes, the camber could be off, but more importantly, the camber for this axle could be different than it was before the conversion.

To check the akerman, you need to go to an alignment shop and have them check it.  It should be the same as before the conversion.  If it is different, then you need to find someone who knows what they are doing, as changing the akerman is not a trivial task.

Hope this helps.
