Tires: Tires on my motorhome., psi max, dual sets

Question
Thank you for your help, But; I have one more question for you, please. I just bought this motorhome, and I want to make sure it is safe for my family, tire wise, and you have the knowledge to help me. The previous owner, put two new tires on the front, they are 225/75R16 as I mentioned before, however; they are Eload type with Michelin asking for 80 PSI max. On the rear is two dual sets of the same size, except they are D Load type with Michelin asking for 65 PSI cold. Evidentually I want to put all E load types. But for the time being, are we safe running 70 psi on the front and 65 on the rear ? And I wonder why the previous owner put E's on the front and left the D,s on the rear, unless he just needed new tires on the front and went with E. IS it the right thing for me to do, evidentually putting all six tires to E load type ? Ot shoule I go back to D load ?
I appreciate your help. I just want to understand and do the right thing.
Thanks again, Don

Answer
Don,

1)  Safety is a relative term, so "are you safe" running 70 psi front / 65 psi rear?  Relatively, yes!

2)  Why would the previous owner put Load Range E's on the front?  2 possibilities come to mind - That was what he could get when he replaced the fronts,  OR he planned to go Load Range E all around and that's where he started.

3)  I think it is a good idea to go Load Range E all around - extra capacity is always a good thing.

One last thing to improve the safety aspect.  Old Tires!

Check for the DOT number.  It should be located near the rim line starting near the letters "DOT"  It will be 10 or 12 digits long.  The last 3 or 4 will indicate the date produced.  If it says 329, then that would be the 32nd week of 1999.  If it says 1200, that would be the 12th week of 2000.

I don't like tires older than 6 years, and would absolutely replace tires 10 years or older.

Hope this helps.
