i have a two part question. i have a vw trike does it matter what side the plate is on?

and i am an amputee and cant find anyone around me to give me the driving test.  is there any kid of variance being that i can only drive a trike?

The answers to both questions depend on where you live. Each state, country, province has requirements.

In general, though, it doesn't matter which side your plate is on, though my guess is you'd be okay to mount it in the center -- that's where it goes on other passenger vehicles, correct?

Most states require a motorcycle license (endorsement) to operate a trike. However, most states also have a process for someone who only wants to ride a trike, usually some kind of restriction that says "motorcycle endorsement -- trike only or 3W only." The driving test for that certification is more like a car test. Again, it depends where you live. Go to the DMV and find out what the process is.
