Apprillia or Cagiva 125 for a 6'2 240 lbs guy fresh out of MSF fellas ?

Both are appropriate starter bikes, especially if your objective is to commute. However, make sure you ride them first before you buy. You may find that they're simply too small for your physical height/weight.

In general, for a first bike, my advice is to buy a 4 cyl bike no larger than 500cc, a two cyl bike no larger than 650 cc.
