Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: 2003 honda shadow VT1100c3, shop, manual

Question
I recently purchased a Honda Shadow.  The owner did not have the owners Manuel.  I see several on the web.  Do you have a suggestion on what would be a good on to buy.  Owners or shop Manuel or both?  What brand is good?  Thanks, Lowell

Answer
The Honda factory service manual would be the best one, but also the most expensive. It's a good buy if you plan to do all your own work on your bike. If Clymer's makes a manual for your bike, that would be a good one too, and probably half the price.

A good service manual will have everything in it that the owner's manual has, so no need to buy both. The owner's manual only skims the top of motorcycle maintenance and repair. If you don't plan to do any of your own work, the owner's manual is adequate.
