Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: a thin helmet, dot approval, wind resistance

Question
i am looking for a helmet with thinner thickness then the one i have i.e. not so afro like but still safe. do you know of any combany who sells helmets like this?
thanks

Answer
I'm sorry I don't know of one that I could recommend. I have recently heard of one company that makes thinner helmets that had their DOT approval revoked.

I suggest visiting several dealerships and trying on the helmets they have available. Make sure the one you select has a DOT approval decal on it. I also suggest wearing it in the store for at least 20 minutes so you can get an idea how it will feel and fit while riding. Another option is if you are planning on attending any of the larger rallies held during the summer, there are usually a large variety of vendors offering a large selection of equipment. Just make sure its a legitimate DOT approved helmet.

I'm a firm believer in the benefits of a fullface helmets. The protection in the event of a crash and the comfort from wind resistance both outweigh any benefit of a lighter helmet. I personally don't like the feeling from wind tugging at the chinstrap on a half helmet and find the fullface to be more comfortable.

I hope this helps, sorry I couldn't come up with a specific make helmet.
