Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: 1993 Yamaha Seca II, yamaha seca ii, yamaha motors

Question
I'm looking at getting one of these, but since I'm in school I want to make sure I'm getting the right bike and not just wasting my money. I've ridden it and it seems to fit but when I research it on the internet I get mostly "for sale" ads and parts that will fit this bike.
I'm 5'6" 140 lbs so I don't think the softer suspension will be an issue, but I'd like to know what tends to go wrong on these, how hard it is to find replacement tires and such, and general life span. In other words, as much as I can find out!
About me, I'm smaller, light, not an expert rider although I've been riding for almost ten years.
Are these bikes reliable? Lifespans?
Thanks!

Answer
They are fine bikes for commuting.  The engine in that bike comes from a LONG history of Yamaha motors.  It's nothing complicated, and simply works.  Not hard to find tires, they are common sizes.  The bike is nothing exciting by any means, but will definitely get you where you want to go, and will still easily squirt around through traffic in a pinch.
