Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: new, starter, bike

I'm a beginner on motorcycles. My dad brought a 2004 yzf(600R). I was wondering if that was a good bike to start out with.

An modern inline-four 600 is not a good beginner bike.

Your first bike should be a 4-cyl no larger than 500cc, or a 2-cyl no larger than 650.

I recommend Suzuki's GS 500 or SV 650. Also look at the Ninja 250, Ninja 500, Ninja 650 for good starter bikes.
