Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: Child Passenger, american motorcyclist association, age restrictions

Question
How old does a child have to be to be a passenger on a Gold Wing Honda 1988 year model 1500, and what kind of safety equipment besides of a helmet?

Answer
Thomas, I really don't believe that the year, make and model of the motorcycle makes any difference. Minimum requirements for any passenger should be that their feet rest securely on the passenger footrest, the passenger is equipped with full protective gear and educated on how to ride as a passenger. As for state laws on age restrictions, I suggest you visit the American Motorcyclist Association website at www.ama-cycle.org and click on Rights to access their data base of state laws governing on and off road motorcycling. There you can find the laws in your state as well as any other state you may travel by motorcycle.
