Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: cbt & test info, motorcycle licence, motorcycle test

Question
hi nigel,
I would like to acquire a motorcycle licence and would like to apply for a CBT test,
i have some information i am unsure about and i wonder if you could help me,
I have had a full car licence for 25 years,(I am age 47) I have just received my licence back after a 26 month ban for drink driving,
Does this affect me in any way applying for a CBT test and a motorcycle licence,

I.e.,
1) hire of the bike provided by the CBT centre (insurance cover etc)
2) will I have to take the extended motorcycle test when the time comes,

thanks for your time and help nigel,
craig

Answer
Hello Craig

I can see no problem with you applying for the cbt.

Here are a few useful links:

Official DSA site

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/LearnerAndNewDrivers/RidingMotorcyclesAndMo...

A site I use and refer to a lot;

http://www.begin-motorcycling.co.uk/cbt.htm

The cbt should cost more the £100.00, dependng o where you live and the extended test does not come in till October 2008

Good luck

Regards

Nigel
