Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: First bike - need help convincing parents., convincing parents, riding gear

Question
Alright, you probably get this a lot, but I'm a teenage girl and i've always LOVED the idea of getting a motorcycle. My dad has one, and he said it'd be cool if i got one too. Unfortunately I no longer live with him. But I still want my motorcycle. I want a sports bike, I read that you say that the Ninja 250s are great first bikes (which is awesome because that's what I was looking at.)
Anyway, I want to show my guardian that I really do understand the danger involved in riding a bike, especially at my age, and just needed some pros and cons.
Can you help?

Answer
The best way is to get everyone involved. Take the MSF basic course, and have your dad and guardian(s) take the course with you. Go as a group to pick out your riding gear. And keep everyone informed of what you're doing, what you're learning, and continually demonstrate that you're taking it very seriously and being careful not to get in over your head.
