Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: my first dirtbike, kawasaki klr250, suzuki dr125

Question
I know the subject sounds nothing like what your expertise or category is, but your the closest thing I could find to my question. I'm 16 years old, about 5' 7" and 130 pounds. I've ridden my cousins little 90 dirtbike around and I know how to tinker with engines and I've been on dirtbikes before. I went on my uncles 250 and it was way to big and bad for me. I'm a pretty good rider for not owning one but now I feel its time that I own one. I was wondering what size do you think I should get. I was thinking a 110 or a little bigger. Thank you and I understand if you can't answer a dirtbike question in a motorcycle category. Thanks

Answer
Yeah, you're right, I don't know much about dirt bikes, but I do know a couple things. My advice is to look for a four-stroke bike in the 110-230cc range. They'll be tall enough and plenty fun for you, yet they're not quite as peaky as the two-stroke bikes--they're better for trail riding and goofing around. The two strokes are more for high performance and racing.

Take a look at the Yamaha TT and TW, both very cool bikes. You might even something as big as a Kawasaki KLR250, which is a dual sport and street legal. The Suzuki DR125 is an all-around great bike.
