Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: Im not sure if someone has been tampering with my bike, fixing a bike, loose connections

Question
When I press on my brakes the rpm needle jumps up and when i give it throttle it decreases. Has someone been tampering with my bike?

Answer
I don't have enough information to give you an answer. Generally, I'd say no, no one has been tampering with your bike. You could try answering these questions for me and I might change my answer:

What year/make/model of bike is it?

Does only the rpm NEEDLE jump/decrease or do the engine rpms also jump/decrease along with it?

If you think someone's tampering with your bike, ask yourself why you think that? You probably already have a person in mind.

Or you tampered with someone's bike (or car, or house, or something) in the past and you're paranoid about someone doing it to you now. Please understand that I'm not accusing you, but I have been around long enough to know that when people are superconcerned about getting, say, ripped off, for example, it is usually them who have ripped people off in the past. People who have never stolen a thing in their life generally are always surprised when someone steals from them--they never even thought about it before.

Fixing a bike so the rpm needle acts wierd would be an awful lot of work to mess with someone's mind--'specially when you could just kick the bike over and be done with it. Lots of older bikes have loose connections and the rpm needle jumps around a lot.
