Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: scooter wont start, sunl, safety advisor

Question
I have a SunL 250cc touring scooter. After last season, the scooter wouldn't start even with a new battery, spark plug, to no avail. There is no crank at all when I push the start button.  What could I do to troubleshoot the problem?

Answer
Well, I am a road safety advisor really so this might be outside my expertise. I would suggest that you try to put the bike into gear on the main stand, leave the clutch engaged and try to turn the engine over using the back wheel (with the ignition OFF of course!). If it won't turn over the that would obviously mean a seized engine or box unfortunately. It could be many other things though before you phone the scrapman.
I am not familiar with SunL, are they automatic or manual? Two or four stroke? What country are you in?
It could be anything from a duff ignition switch or kill switch, (Is the kill switch definitely in the RUN position? Lots of people have done that  before don't worry)to a seized starter, engine or gearbox or even as simple as a blown ignition fuse.
Sorry I can't be of any further help but have you tried looking for the manufacturer on the Internet?
Best of luck.
