Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: Not sure if this is your area.., knowlage, licensing authority

Hi, I couldnt find an expert who fits my exact needs, but you appear to have knowlage that might help :D

Anyway, im 16 and im trying to convince my mum to get me a moped.. However neither of us are completly sure about rules and regulations and what i would need to do to actually ride it:P Any information would be helpful :D

It depends on what country you live in, and what state.

If you're outside the US, I don't know. I think you need to have a full license and training to operate a moped.

In the US, generally, mopeds (less than 50cc) are treated as bicycles with engines. Anyone with a drivers license can ride one, and some people without a drivers license can ride them with a special permit and/or training. They usually are required to have insurance. It varies from state to state, so check with the licensing authority (the office that issues driver's licenses) in your area to find out for sure.
