Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: Max size tire, kawasaki vulcan 800, size tire

I am looking around to find a new tire for my 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 and have found that most dealers around here do not carry the 140/90-16.  I am wanting to know if a 150/90-16 would fit the back of the bike and if so, what safety issues would I be faced with other then the slow turning compared to the original tires.

There shouldn't be any safety issues with fitting a larger tire on the rear. I can't tell you whether it would fit or not. My recommendation is to find an Internet forum of Vulcan 800 enthusiasts and see what other people are running. Google search: Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Forum.
