Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: fatality comparisons/ safety, public safety articles, mid life crisis

Question
"Sport bikes" vs "standard" Are there statistics available on injury or fatality that compares "crotch rockets" to "standard" motorcycles?? I'm interested in Department of Public Safety articles; studies or compilations or US Dept of Transportation publications, etc. Trying to get down to the FACTS as regards "Is a 20 year-old man more likely to get killed riding a "sport bike" vs. standard motorcycle"... and comparisons between motorcycle vs auto (same age group)...think like an actuary, if you had to place odds on surviving an accident, how would you state the facts regarding "crotch rockets" vs. standard motorcycles... and then, vs. riding in a car" Thanks!!

Answer
Hello Frank

I would love to be able to answer the question, but I am based in the United Kingdom, where we have the data available.  Over here it is the middle aged rider on a sports bike.  They call it  mid life crisis, when the family have grown up, money is more available and the men buy a motorcycle.  However I do have some contacts in the US if you want me to ask them.  You can contact me direct via my web site www.advancedmotorcycletraining.com if I can help further.
