Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: jacks, kawasaki vulcan 1600, kawasaki vulcan 1600 classic

Question
I have recently bought a 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 classic and was thinking about buying a jack for it but when I looked underneath it I saw that the oil pan is out past the frame. My question is where do you position the jack under the bike? Do I use the oil pan as part of the support? I wouldn't think that would be a good idea but I can't see anywhere else to put it.
Your answer would greatly be appreciated.
Thank you

Answer
Hi,
I would recommend a bike lift or stand; you can buy one online or at most bigger bike shops.  If you’re good with a welder, you could fashion a set of your own too. Most simple lifts will lift either the front or rear wheel, or both. Never lift against the oil pan.
