Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: winterizing and storage, yamaha r1, proper storage

Question
I have a yamaha R1 1999 and its winter time and i wont be riding until about april or may. I wanted to know what i needed to do to the bike for proper storage until winter is done. I heard that i have to drain the gas id like to know where the switch is to do this and if there is anything else that needs to be done.
