Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: late fees, honda dealership, vehicle inspections

Question
I know that automobiles owners are charged for late inspections for their vehicles.I own a motorcycle and have been told that it is not applying to them currently. The Honda dealership says they are'nt keeping track of motorcycles with the computer or whatever and for that reason they have'nt heard of any penalties.I live in North Carolina. Can you help with this subject.Thanks.  Jane

Answer
Every state has different policies regarding vehicle inspections. (In my state, we don't even have them!) Many states do have different policies for different types of vehicles (passenger car, semi truck, motorcycle, et al.) so it wouldn't surprise me if the late fees that are applied to cars are not applied to motorcycles, but you'll need to check with the inspection people to be sure.

I would NOT rely on the Honda dealership for that information, and it sounds like hearsay. They're in the business of selling bikes. It's the local or state government that's in the business of inspecting and licensing them.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
