Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: Suziki Katana - Good Bike, honda yamaha, quality bike

Question
Hi Andy,

I am looking to purchase a Suziki Katana 600 because I have just fallen in love with the look of the bike.  However, I'm a bit concerned because I keep seeing mixed reviews about the cycle.  Is this a sound motorcycle to buy?  I read opinions online, etc. and no one seems to complain of mechanical problems, but when I speak to friends they have no good things to say about the bike!  They say they run terribly and that the nickname is "can't tune 'em" because they never run well and are always breaking down.  Is there any truth to this?  I figured asking an expert would be the best way to find out if the Katana is a good bike :-)

Thanks much for any insight you can provide.

All the best,

Kat

Answer
Hey Kat,

On my personal opinion I would not recommend the Katana 600. I rode a Suzuki for about three months and personally did not like it. They are good bikes for a while but eventually they start to have problems. If you wanna look into a quality bike go for a Honda, Yamaha. Those are the top brands. Honda has good warranty's and there bikes are made to last a long time. Go on real sites and look at features of every one. It depends on what suits you best. If you have any more questions just ask.
