Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: the rear wheel of a motorcycle, honda cbr 600, suspension settings

Question
i have a serious question and i can't find the answer of what i need to do this. first off i ride a 97 honda cbr 600 its like new. my question is that i want to extend the rear wheel of my bike so that my front tire doesn't so much lift on the whole shot going down the road. how do i go about extending the wheel or is that even what i should do. i have talked to many people about this but no ne can give a real good answer mostly they say it is for looks. although i do like how it looks will it help my situation. and in doing this will my rear end of my bike sit lower to the ground? thanks a lot please get back to me soon

Answer
Hi Jason,
Thanks for writing to me. That's a very interesting question you have....Moving your rear wheel a little more to the rear is possible, although it is a HUGE effort, and requires considerable design and machining expertise. It wuld involve lengthening, or replacing your swingarm and chain, Also, It will have impacts on the handling side too - no longer will you have the razor sharp turns you're probably used to now. Longer wheelbases mean less wheelies (which is what you want), but also not-so-easy-to-turn bikes. They're good for cruisers.

I seriously wouldn't recommend a longer wheelbase for you. A better option would be to change suspension settings - make the springs stiffer, and consider changing your riding position - don't sit too far at the back.

That's it for now, I guess.
Hope i've been of help,
Anil
