Used Cars: 2009 Lexus RX 350 water damage, car, water

Question
Hi-I bought a Certified Pre-Owned Lexus 2009 RX 350 that they say was a dealer loaner 3 months ago with 14,200 miles on it. Few little nicks, dings that they fixed right away--everyhing looked and smelled brand new-last weekend my daughter was in backseat and noticed stains near rear door-when I got out there were water stains around headliner, left side, top and a few other spots all on left side-nothing on the right side-I took it back right away and cornered GM of used Cars-he says he checked record and saw no previous damage but he thinks it was steam cleaned inside-parked inside and windows were not left open 4 inches as directed and did not dry correctly??He said would call me right after the Holiday and fix everything-havent heard from him yet but I will go back just curious if you have heard of this before
Thanks
Lenny

Answer
Hi, Lenny

Yes it's a fact if you don't have windows or doors open to allow for ventilation after a steam clean water stains could easily appear when dry.

But let's make sure that has been the problem, place a sprinkler besides the car upright and let water hit the roof like rain for about an hour, then feel for wet spots or dampness, if there is any then rubber seals need to be replaced, in some cases if there is a leak it may not appear right away, so check again a few hours later.

I find it odd however it's only the left side, can think of two other ways for this to have happened.
1, Excess water during steam clean was used on left side of liner.
2, Window not closed properly at some point.

Good luck, if you encounter problems with this issue let me know
