Used Cars: used cars, rear view mirror, smile on my face

Question
I recently bought a used car from a dealer and noticed it had a red sticker on the rear view mirror... I also noticed that at the dealership some cars had green stickers. I started to be concerned when a friend told me that cars with red stickers usually had some kind of major problem. I don't necessarily believe him but I wanted to check with someone else to see if they knew what it meant.

Answer
Hi Jim
You're like a Detective, your question put a smile on my face, because after having answered a few thousand questions on the Internet here comes a question never been asked before that 99.9% off buyers would not have noticed  '" you're good "

The stickers in your case will have a meaning, here are the most common, and it has nothing to do with major problems.

EXAMPLE,,, Someone from autotrader comes to dealership once a week to take pictures of new arrivals, and will know by checking it's got red a sticker to pass.

Someone else comes by every so often to inspect " Interior " Cosmetics " or any other kind of detail and will know in a flash to pass if there is a sticker, means inspected sometime in the past.

Summary,,, If a tradesman is checking 10 car lots in a day some with over 200 cars, it will tell him quickly which once's to bypass because of where he has placed a sticker in the past.
