Used Cars: buying used cars, high mileage, red flags

Question
I am a college student looking to buy a used car just to
get around town.  My thing is I see all these cars with
high mileage and I'm not sure if they are a good deal and
how well they hold up.  From the research I've done I hear
that bmw, volvo, toyota, and honda are fairly good used
cars.  Do you have any advice or resources that you would
suggest to me when it comes to buying a used car, and how
many miles is too much for that year thanks in advance

Answer
Hi John
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, was away for the weekend.

The vehicles you mentioned are all excellent, but there is a lemon in every batch, it therefore comes down to condition of a vehicle, and that will take a bit of study from you to ensure not ending up with a lemon.

A fair calculation will be to allow about 15K a year for average miles, beyond that the price factor should be less.

I got no clue as per your location or your budget, but if you are interested to learn the process go to my website    http://www.usedcartips.org/ and in order navigate to " test drive " then " take to mechanic " and as a third step " how you negotiate "

You will most likely have further questions along the way, feel free to make contact.

If you find a vehicle of interest provide me with a link and I will check for red flags.
