Used Cars: Oasis Report-Warranty, new car warranty, ford warranty

Question
I bought a 2008 Mariner in January that was represented as being a dealer demo. After purchase a Carfax showed it was sold to a rental company in 2007 by a different dealer and delivered to a different state. It was bought by my dealer in October of 2008 at auction. At the time I bought it the car was represented as still being under the new car warranty. However, the dealer has not been able to provide any maintenance history on the car. The Ford Warranty guide states that any component not inspected or maintained as required in the Scheduled Maintenance Guide is voided from the warranty. I have requested from both Ford and the dealer that they send me a written statement to the effect that at the time I purchased the car the new car warranty was still in force and valid. Both have refused. The dealer sent me a copy of the Oasis report claiming that it is what Ford uses to validate a warranty. There is no maintenance or repair history on the report. The only entry concerning the warranty is the start date in 2007. My questions are, does Ford really use an Oasis Report to confirm a warranty? How could an Oasis Report that has no repair or maintenance history on a car with 22,800 miles possibly verify that the warranty is valid and current?

Answer
First, That junk goes on with some salespeople, saying that a car was a dealer demo, just to make a sale!If you had a witness, I would go straight to the General Mgr not General Sales Mgr or to the dealer principle/owner and tell them their salesman lied.
Second,They can type in the VIN# of your vehicle and see all services,Recalls or Warranty work or complaints on that vehicle. When vehicles are demos or rentals they don't do anything to them unless it breaks or they need the dealer, that's why you don't see anything.
Last, Yes there is an Oasis report and all it tells you is when the warranty started and it will tell you if the warranty is voided. The warranty travels by ID# only (not ownership)so if the Oaisis say's you have warranty, then you do.
It's unfortunate that this is how some one had to sell a vehicle but it happened, lesson learned. The other side is I worked for Ford for 16yrs and I can tell you you are safe, with your complaints to the dealer and Ford, they have notes in the computer to make sure everyone behind is covered, to include yours if you should need a warranty repair, they don't want you to be un happy.
Hope this helps, Your safe, Anything else just let me know
